My son and I love to hike around Montana. It is on some of our best adventures that I am finding this inspiration. As any parent could attest, the world is more alive and vibrant when I’m around my kid. An adventure turns into a fuzzy memory of fun and joy. This is one of two paintings that go together as a diptych. Scroll through the pics to see them together.
These paintings have also been done during the quarantine/social distancing. I feel so raw emotionally during this time. I don't do well just sitting around, I love to work. I love people and my awesome community of people who have taken me literally under their wings. You know, checking on me everyday, sending me dorky memes and generally loving me in my craziest moments. I love the chance to work on developing my painting style, but also I'm digging deep down to the mushy center of my life and pulling out the nuggets that bring me joy.
It has been very difficult adjusting to the changes in the world. Three weeks ago, America was a different place. Rumors scared us, the news had started a campaign to get everyone inside. The virus was something happening in China. That's a long way away. Today, we are staring out our windows hoping to adjust to a whole new life and journey. Things seem like they will never go back to the way they were. We are on the cusp of something so big, none have the courage to put it into words. I know one thing. I see the value in the beautiful world we live in. I don't want to ever take anyone for granted. I love you all and miss you terribly.
